This a great time for buyers to invest in their first home or to purchase additional properties such as foreclosures as investments. Prices are back to where they were in 2004 and with interest rates at record lows -this is the time to buy! Plus, first time homebuyers can deduct a $7000 tax credit if they purchase by July of 2009! A lot of buyers are still leaning toward FHA or VA loans rather than conventional financing which requires a hefty down payment and tops out at $417,000. There are really no more Jumbo loans available. FHA will be accepting contract sales prices of up to $625,000 in the Washington area starting in 2009. So, all things considered it is still a buyers market and an outstanding time to move up to a larger home or purchase your first home.
