Third quarter 2008 compared to 2007 sees Layton area homes with average of 46.67% longer days on market or 66 days. There were less homes sold (204) this third quarter compared with 2007 with the average sales price down 5.16% or $231,209 for single family homes. There is a 22.24% decrease in new listings over 2007 same quarter. The number of new listings sold was up 10.37% over 2007 same quarter showing still strong interest by buyers as asking prices have decreased 5.34% or $264,188 average asking price.
Condo prices are up 11.69% compared to the same quarter last year with an average sales price of $170,742. The number of condos sold were down 6.67%.

Location Characteristics: Layton is a area of rolling hills and flat areas with I-15 passing through the middle of the city. With the new high speed commuter rail (Front Runner) operational April, 2008, it will ease comuter drive times to Salt Lake City employers. It is a lovely bedroom community of Salt Lake City and also for local Hill Air Force Base personnel. Hill Air Force Base is the main employer and the largest in the state. Residents have several entertainment, national restaurants, hotels, and retail shopping areas within the city conveniently located between Interstate-15. The western areas of Layton are booming with new housing construction.
