At the conclusion of October the year to year comparison saw steady growth of average and median prices. The volume of homes sold was down 6 percent compared to 2007.
Inventory of homes was up 16 percent compared to 2007. The pace of new listings is continuing to slow with the market and the 17th consecutive month of this trend. This is a positive sign the the shifting market has not caused the Houston market to become saturated.

The 2007 Chairman of the Houston Association of Realtors, Rob Cook, was encouraged by the ongoing increase in average and median home prices demonstrating the staying power of the Houston real estate market. He explained that during this period of sub prime lending difficulties Houston still maintains a sound investment.
