Well well well...we are facing some interesting times now. There is so much bad press about our economy. Some I'm sure ring true and others are sensationalized by the media since that is their job. I try to take everything I see on the news with a grain of salt. I do believe there are many things that are positive going on in our city.
According to the Associated Press, September new home sales were up 2.7%, Dallas has one of the biggest growths in our job markets in the country, and we have the Barnett Shale. If you don't know about the Barnett Shale, it is one of the largest oil discoveries in history. It has provided the metroplex with many benefits that has flowed lots of money through our economy.
I also feel we are lucky here in the "Big D" because we never saw the huge escalation of prices as many other major metropolitan cities had, so we won't have to face a huge drop in prices.
It would appear to me that with the uncertainty of the stock market, people will invest their money in homes since they are a stable investment at this time.
During this time, sellers must be realistic with pricing. I see overpriced homes sitting on the market for an extended period of time. If homes aren't priced right when they are listed, it is going to be a long road before they are sold. WIth that said, homes are still selling. It is a great time to be a buyer right now. There are many deals out there to be had.

Approximate Location Boundaries: The City of Dallas -- from downtown to the edge of Plano

Location Characteristics: Dallas is the third-largest city in the state of Texas and the ninth-largest in the United States. The city covers almost 400 square miles. As of 2005, U.S. Census estimates put Dallas at a population of 1.2 million. Dallas was founded in 1841. The city is known globally as a center for telecommunications, computer technology, banking, and transportation. It is the core of the largest inland metropolitan area in the United States and lacks any navigable link to the sea. Dallas's prominence despite this comes from its historical importance as a center for the oil and cotton industries, its position along numerous railroad lines, and its powerful industrial and financial tycoons.
