The super strong housing market experienced in the past few years returned to more typical levels in 2008. The mortgage lending situation certainly contributed by tightening the availability of funds. However, Nashville continues to be a hot spot for business and industry. It's location, moderate climate and relatively low cost of living make Middle Tennessee a great place in which to live. The outlying areas remain popular choices for homebuyers. Columbia - located in Maury County approximately 45 minutes south of downtown Nashville - offers the best of both worlds - proximity to a major metropolitan area while still retaining their rural charm. New construction is continuing in various price ranges. Maury County typically offers more home and land for your housing dollar than Williamson County to the north.
